CO2 Intensity
CO2 Intensity is measured by grams of CO2 (emissions) per kilowatt hour (kWh) of demand. This is an indication of how much carbon is in the electricity you are using now.
CO2 Intensity = Total CO2 Emissions / System Demand
CO2 emissions are derived from the real-time measured power output of each generator. The calculation first uses the generator heat rate curve information to estimate how much fuel is being used. Then, the CO2 emission factor for each fuel is used to estimate CO2 emissions.
